Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
What exactly is a Pet Containment System?
Answer:
Innotek Containment Systems create a hidden boundary, and the
receiver on your dog's collar will sound a warning dog as your dog
approaches the boundary. Should your dog remain the signal field, or
continue farther into the field, a harmless but affective static
correction will be delivered by the receiver. Your dog will soon
learn the new customized boundaries and remain in the
"safe" part of the yard. Innotek Containment Systems
enable you to give your dog the freedom he or she wants, while
securing the dog´s safety for your peace of mind.
Question:
What does my dog wear on his/her collar?
Answer:
There is a small receiver on the dog's collar that picks up a
digitally encoded signal from a transmitter. Innotek´s receiver
collars vary in size, and dogs as small as 5 pounds can wear the
collar comfortably. Properly fitted, the collar should be snug,
allowing enough room for one of your fingers to fit between the dog´s
neck and the collar. The miniature size and weight will not cause any
distraction or discomfort.
Question:
Will the stimulation harm my dog?
Answer:
The stimulation your dog feels is designed to be undesirable so
your dog will avoid it, yet totally harmless to your pet. You or your
Dealer can choose the stimulation setting to suit your dog based on
his or her personality, breed, disposition and size. After just a few
training sessions, your dog will adhere to the warning tone and rarely
experience the stimulus.
Question:
Can Innotek systems be customized for my yard?
Answer:
The boundary created by the wire can be customized to keep your dog
away from areas such as gardens and driveways. Your dog will safely
avoid swimming pools, unappreciative neighbors or busy streets. Even
the special carpet in your living room can be protected against
unwanted pet hair or stains. Since dogs cannot dig under or jump over
Innotek Containment Systems, these products are an ideal alternative
to traditional fencing. Innotek products can also be used to reinforce
existing fencing that your dog has found his way around
Question:
Is there training involved? How long will it take for my dog to
get the idea?
Answer:
Innotek manufactures training systems and training is the most
important part. Since no two dogs are alike, your Innotek system can
be tailored to meet your dog´s requirements. Using unique, positive
training methods, your dog will easily learn the new customized
boundaries you have designed. Most of our customers have found it
takes a surprisingly little amount of time to train their dog to stay
in the yard. With the proper methods, some patience and praise, in
about 2 weeks or so of training, your dog will soon be content, safe
and secure at home. Remember training time varies with each dog.
Question:
What is synchronization?
Answer:
The training collar receiver and transmitter must be synchronized
to work properly. Synchronization means the collar receiver and
transmitter are tuned to each other. The user must synchronize the
receiver and transmitter after charging a receiver, replacing a
battery in the transmitter or receiver, or changing the ID code. To
synchronize, hold the red dot on the transmitter against the red dot
on the receiver for five seconds, separate them, then push any
transmitter button. The receiver will now respond to signals from the
transmitter
Question:
How long do the batteries last?
Answer:
Many variables affect battery life, but here are some general
guidelines: Replaceable 6V: Remote Trainers: 48 to 72 hours of
continuous use. Containment: 30 days Replaceable 12V: 6 months
Replaceable 3V lithium: Command Series: 200 hours of continuous use.

Answer:
Yes, additional collars can be purchased separately.

Can I triple my containment system wire to create a dead zone?
Answer:
No.
Question:
Can the containment system be placed above ground?
Answer:
Yes, the containment system will operate properly above ground, be
sure to take special care that the wire does not become damaged.
Innotek recommends placing the wire in the ground.
Question:
How do I create a dead zone in my containment system in the
boundary wire?
Answer:
Twisting two wires together cancels the signal in that area.: (Note
the example diagrams in your containment system owner's manual.)
Question:
Is my collar receiver waterproof?
Answer:
Most Innotek collar receivers are waterproof, meaning they are
submersible. If a collar receiver is merely water-resistant, it is
noted in the owner's guide. Most transmitters are water-resistant but
not waterproof. Care should be taken to keep transmitters as dry as
possible.
